Four FISD Members Selected to SIIA Board
A major focus for the FISD Executive Committee (FISD EC) for 2018 is increasing FISD’s representation on the Board of its parent, the SIIA.  An increased level of FISD representation will ensure that decisions on the long-term direction of SIIA and its allocation of resources are consistent with FISD’s goals.  We are pleased to report that four members of the FISD EC have been chosen to join the SIIA Board for one year terms:  Yousaf Hafeez (BT, Chair of FISD EC), Steve Dickey (Cboe, Vice-Chair of FISD EC), Marcy Pike (Fidelity, Secretary of FISD EC), and Sallianne Taylor (Bloomberg, FISD EC).

Salute to First to Pass Data Licensing Exam
Recently FISD launched its first Level 2 Exam which focuses data licensing issues. Passing the Data Licensing Exam requires more specialized knowledge than the foundational Level 1 Financial Information Associate exam. Not only is the topic more challenging, the exam itself is flat out demanding. Bearing that in mind, FISD wishes to extend its congratulations to the first two candidates to pass the exam: John Ikel, Head of Data Compliance & Licensing, 3d innovations (first to pass in EMEA) and Michael McCrea, Executive Vice President, JCV Investment Systems (first to pass in the Americas). SL&C WG Announces Nominees for Communication Award
The FISD’s Service Level & Communication Working Group announces that four exchanges have been nominated for the Group’s special one-time award recognizing a Data Provider’s communication and product management performance specifically involving MiFID II-related data product changes and events.  The nominees are Cboe Europe, Deutsche Boerse, Euronext and Vienna Stock Exchange.

This award mirrors the SL&C Working Group’s annual Outstanding Data Provider Award that for the past ten years has recognized the exchange or data provider that most clearly adheres to the Working Group’s Best Practice Recommendations. These recommendations are guidelines for communication and notification sent by exchanges and information providers to their customers and downstream distribution partners for events such as new product introductions, system upgrades, administrative and policy changes, and unplanned interruptions.

The Award winner will be announced at the FISD Issue Brief in London on June 14th.

Upcoming Consumer Group Calls:
The FISD Consumer Constituent Group (CCG) has scheduled two calls to focus on current challenges related to derived data policies and inter-dealer brokers.  If you are a member of the CCG and are interested in joining one or both of these calls, please contact Tom Davin.

Rising Stars Happy Hour: Learn to Network Like a Pro
The Rising Stars event series makes its next stop in NYC on May 22. FISD defines a “rising star” as anyone striving for continued growth and success in their career – hopefully that includes you. Unlike other FISD events, these member-exclusive Rising Stars Happy Hours are held after work and have a bit more casual vibe. Grab a drink on your way in, it’s a happy hour! Don’t miss this panel covering strategies for networking, then use what you’ve learned to make the most out of the reception that follows. Click the register now button below to save your seat and don't forget to Invite your team.

FISD Launches Women’s Speaker Bureau

Member firms have increasingly requested to see greater gender equity on event programs. In response, FISD is developing a Women’s Speaker Bureau to have a deeper understanding of the available speaker pool.  Women who would like to volunteer to speak should send their name, title, company name, contact information, preferred locations for speaking and tags for the topics they are able to cover (e.g. data management, MiFID II, cost savings, vendor management) to Tracey Shumpert. FISD will use this information to issue speaker invitations. Please feel free to spread the word to your colleagues and clients for their contributions as well. Contact Tracey Shumpert with any questions.
