WFIC Preliminary Schedule Announced

600x300_wfic17.png

FISD has announced the preliminary schedule for the 2017 World Financial Information Conference taking place September 24-27 in Barcelona. WFIC is the only global event that focuses exclusively on issues associated with dissemination, management and use of financial information.

Due to high demand, WFIC 2015 was only open to members and we expect to carry that policy forward for WFIC 2017. In order to attend, your membership must be active at least through September 27, 2017. Contact Tracey Shumpert for more information or to make sure you're eligible. WFIC is less than a year away, so now is the time to join FISD to ensure that you're eligible for the conference.

  • FISD Regular Members: $1,900 USD
  • FISD Consumer Firm Members: $500 USD

REGISTER NOW  to join 400+ senior financial information professionals in three and a half days of panels, educational sessions, networking and fun.

Service Level & Communications Working Group
The SL&C Working Group is currently considering an addition to the Group’s Best Practices document.  In a recent conference call members discussed possibly adding content and recommendations for data providers handling incoming queries and questions from vendors and down-stream customers.  The document currently contains suggested recommendations only for data providers and exchanges related to their outgoing communication with customers.   Any final changes made to the Best Practices document would require approval from members of the Working Group and approval from the FISD Executive Committee.

FISD FIA Exam: By the Numbers

PCP.png

The FISD Financial Information Associate (FIA) exam is the first-ever certification for the market and reference data industry. If you don’t know it yet, you should. Well over 1,000 practitioners have earned the credential – hiring managers and clients alike are starting to take notice. Here’s a breakdown of the exam by the numbers:

4 – The FISD FIA syllabus is broken down into four sections: Markets, Data, Technology, and Issues & Trends.

150 -- The FISD FIA consists of 150 multiple-choice questions.

75% -- A score of at least 75% is required to pass the FISD FIA. Achieving this mark earns you an FIA plaque, a place in the FISD FIA Directory, and the right to add the letters FIA after your name.

160 -- Candidates have 160 minutes (2 hours and 40 minutes) to complete the exam.

2 -- Candidates taking the FISD FIA in a formal testing center must show two forms of ID. At least one ID must be an official government-issued ID, e.g. a passport or driver's license.

900+ -- Testing facilitator Kryterion operates over 900 testing centers globally. There is likely to be a testing center convenient to where you live or work.

76% -- About 76% of test takers pass the exam. Retakes are available and nobody will see your score except you, but you still want to study hard, perhaps with a recognized trainer.

Time to get to work with SIIA Boot Camp
SIIA, FISD's parent company, is launching a series of boot camp events in 2017 to offer a deep dive into issues facing members in all of the associations under the SIIA umbrella. These first events scheduled for the SIIA Boot Camp Series will tackle marketing:

These events will bring together the best of SIIA's four membership divisions to help you navigate issues such as the growing need to be both a master technologist and a master brand builder, reaching your customers via email instead of cluttering up their inboxes, developing a message for social media platforms that is unique from your conventional marketing messages, using the right analytics in this data-driven environment, and much more.
