FISD/SIIA Virtual Workshop: Communicating the Business Case for DEI

This interactive on-line workshop, open to all members of FISD and SIIA, is the third in a three-part series offering DEI-related education in 2022.
Participants will receive a practical understanding of why correctly applied DEI principles improve business outcomes, and how to communicate these benefits to stakeholders with the power to influence organizational structures. By celebrating differences, ensuring fair treatment, and creating an environment where everyone can thrive, organizations can see greater productivity, profitability, and mission fulfillment. This session explores ways to foster deeper senses of belonging in ways that help teams of all kinds improve quality and morale while accomplishing business goals.

Presentation: Filing the Future of ESG "The SEC has proposed new rules which aim to bring decision-useful information to investors. Modeled off the Taskforce on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), these proposed changes have been receiving public support from Canada. This means that companies would be required to disclose the impact of climate-related events and transition activities that have, or are likely to have, a material impact on the company. As a result, changing consumer and investor preferences, reputational risk, and a company's value chain (both upstream and downstream) are to be included in each company's climate-related disclosures and GHG emissions. Once disclosed, this information will have a direct impact on a company's future financial health, including its access to financing."
